Slackstring is the perfect moniker for the band; laid back, groovy music providing the soundtrack for summer barbecues and the sport of sunset watching. Comprised of four guys born and raised adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in Manhattan Beach, CA, the sound of Slackstring was crafted as much by the beach lifestyle as it was by local musical influences from classic bands like The Doors and The Beach Boys to neighborhood punk pioneers Pennywise and Descendents. Their sound has been described as Pure Feel-Good Music by L.A. newspaper The Daily Breeze, and a desert island CD by their legions of dedicated fans.

Wolfmother are an Australian hard rock band that formed in Erskineville, Sydney in 2000. The band has released one studio album, Wolfmother (2005), which reached number three on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. The album also won the 2005 J Award and 2006 ARIA Awards for Best Breakthrough Album and Best Rock Album. "Woman", a single from the album, won the band their first Grammy Award, for Best Hard Rock Performance, in 2007.

The new lineup's first album, Cosmic Egg is set to be released on 9 October 2009.
