Heitor Alves (BRA) was unstoppable on his way to claim the ASP 6-Star San Miguel Pro Zarautz presented by Euskaltel title over Tim Boal (FRA) in a well fought 35-minute battle. Having taken down an inform Gabriel Medina (BRA) in the semis, Alves was on a roll and proved unbeatable despite a last ditched effort by Boal to take the victory.

Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) today claimed the Sooruz Lacanau Pro title downing fellow countryman Alejo Muniz in the 35-minute final to achieve his best result of the year and his second ASP Men’s Star-Series title in a closely fought final on a day which saw epic conditions for the grand finale to the 31st edition of the Sooruz Lacanau Pro an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) sanctioned event.

Ideal conditions allowed the international field of athletes to display their full repertoire of manoeuvres during an action packed day of competitive surfing which saw three rounds of competition completed.

Clean lines in the 4-5ft (1.2m) range pumped through the entire day improving with the higher tide to allow for some spectacular surfing at the main contest site. Blue skies and warm weather added to the summer atmosphere as the huge beach crowd lined the shores to watch the action.

Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) took out an inform Josh Kerr (AUS) in the last minute of their Round Five clash. Putting everything into one last fling Dantas nailed a 5.83 out of a possible 10 to regain the lead and advance to the quarter-finals. Having broken his board early in the heat Dantas fought back in the low scoring clash and will face fellow Brazilian Alex Ribeiro in quarter-final nº4.

Good conditions were on offer today for the opening day of the Pena Pernambuco International Longboard Classic held at the tropical waters of Maracaipe Bay, Pernambuco’s south coast. The round one battle brought an impressive show of classic and progressive Longboarding.

Local hero, Reginaldo Nascimento, was one of the standouts of the day advancing into round 2 showing an impressive performance. With local knowledge playing a major role in his win, Nascimento scored the highest single score of the day and also the highest two wave total of 13.93 points looking ready to surprise in the later rounds.

Naomi Stevic (Noosa/Queensland) has posted the biggest win of her competitive career winning the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Blue Kiss Pro Junior at Curl Curl Beach in Sydney today.

Defeating Victorian surfer Nikki Van Dijk on a score line of 13.50 to 8.90 it was a dominant performance from Stevic in the clean 1 to 2 feet waves at Curl Curl.
