Joel Parkinson inspires TravelSIM Team Australia and the next generation of surfers Surfing Australia HPC surfers and TravelSIM Team Australia had a rare opportunity to meet 2009 Hawaiian Triple Crown Winner and World Number 2 Joel Parkinson (Coolangatta, QLD) today at the HPC Summer School Holiday Surf Camps being completed at Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina. Joel Parkinson answered questions and gave advice to the next generation of surfers ranging from his training program to explaining the intricacies of his preparation for surfing competitions. “I can still remember being this age and looking up to surfers such as Occy, the advice they gave me back then is still with me today” said Parkinson. “I was stoked to be able to come down to the HPC and offer advice to the next generation of surfers” As part of the Billabong Joel Parkinson Surf Camp, TravelSIM Team Australia were also able to learn from Parkinson who presented each team member with their official TravelSIM Team Australia uniform. The HPC Summer Surf Camps provide elite coaching and the HPC is extremely pleased to be offering young surfers aged between 8 and 17 the opportunity to meet and surf with Australia’s best surfers including Mick Fanning, Julian Wilson, Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore. |
