Gathering of the Tribes Surf Contest This Weekend at Church Beach

San Onofre -- The Surf reports say it all – nice sized waves are expected this weekend.  Perfect timing to check out the Doheny Longboard Surfing Association’s 14th annual Gathering of the Tribes winter surf classic this Saturday and Sunday, January 9-10, 2010.  A full program is scheduled offering a great mix of longboarding, tandem and SUP competitions.

Held at the beginning of each year, the contest features two competitive surfing areas at Church Beach in San Onofre, Calif.  This enables contestants from more than 18 Longboard Coalition Teams to battle their way to the finals, which will be held on Sunday, January 10th. Last year’s program was an all-time classic as the waves roared through the area for most of the weekend providing surfers with an exceptional taste of one of California’s premier surfing locations.
